that is odd. I am surprised they would want their competition on their page. I think there is a way to shut down those certain adds that are close to your niche. Some tweaking is all he needed.

Thanks a lot! Almost 99 out of 100 bloggers give advice on where to place Adsense ads, even those who have no knowledge or experience about the subject! You are the first blogger I’ve come across who actually shares information on where NOT to place Adsense ads. I found it very useful. Advertising your competitors on your own sales page is perhaps the stupidest thing any internet marketer could do!

Well I agree with you in principle. But some of my sales sites have Adsense on them and they still do ok. They might do better, who knows. But I don’t put the ads in such a conspicuous manner. So they will only click if they really want to.

It doesn’t matter where you put the ads; if you put too many ad units the site becomes unsightly anyway.

It seems obvious, doesn’t it? Sending traffic direcly to your competitors have never been a good idea, if you want to sell a product. Its much more effecient with a “give away” add to collect e-mail adresses. In that way u will be able to contact the potential buyer in the future making the chances of a sale much higher.

Excellent post and it really makes sense “Don’t display Adsense or similar type ads on pages or posts where you are trying to sell a particular product, as you are just promoting the competition.”

But it does not hurt that much as your promotion is focused on that one keyword.

but i just think the opposite from you..
i think it is not a big deal when we put the ads on the things that we want to sell, as long as in the area do not place a massive ads
