Great post. Article marketing has three main benefits:
- helps you establish your credibility to be viewed as an expert
- brings you more backlinks if reposted on other web sites
- continue bringing more direct traffic to your web site even after years.

More people do not do it because they are not confident they can write a good article. We all know something a lots of other people do not know. How about just sharing that information in just about 500 words.

Let me ask you about a danger of duplicated content: despite having the article source in the footnote isn’t there a danger that Google will consider the text as duplicated content if it gets published a lot on different sites?

I haven’t done article marketing, but will be soon after i have some time. Not only do you get some nice backlinks, but i’ve heard you can get a hell lot of traffic if its a good and interesting article.

Great ideas, especially about deep linking. This is even more useful for linking to money pages. You can essentially go after your targeted keyword and link directly to the page that is optimized for that keyword.

And, of course, the real power of this strategy is the potential for syndication across thousands (or more) of websites.

I’ve been using it and it’s one of the best methods of building backlinks I’ve found. Those directories you mentioned are among the best. I’d also recommend Article Dashboard. I think that has a PR of 6. Also heaps of traffic.

It’s definitely a good idea to make your articles as informative as possible, and steer clear of spruiking your website in the article body.

Apart from it just looking like a press release (and there are lots of places to submit those anyway) it will turn off prospective publishers who have sites in your niche. They’ll tolerate giving you a link or two back from their site in the bio-box, but not in the article itself. That would be like a fast food shop owner telling everyone that the burgers down the road are as good or better, and that they should go there instead!

I’ve submitted few articles to EzineArticles before, but everything goes slow recently. The traffic that I received from EzineArticles was not that much, I believe that it depends on what topic you write. For internet marketing topic, I think it’s not that popular especially affiliate marketing. I’ve only received little traffic from Ezine.

But when it comes to backlinks and search engine ranking, it helps. So I didn’t care much on the direct traffic, but I concern about the organic traffic.

How’s your experience in article marketing Doug?

Hello Doug, You’re totally right. Article marketing really plays an important role on generating traffic to your blog and on helping you build credibility. I couldn’t more agree with this.

Submitting articles on article directories also gives your articles a high chance to get index on search engines. I even remember one article of mine got indexed on google when a friend of mine post an excerpt of my article on his site.
