I am sure everyone has been having a hard time sleeping these last few days wondering who was going to win those two premium banner ad spots in our sidebar. Well your wait is finally over.

We want to thank everyone who has commented on Making Money Online Dot Com! You definitely make writing posts much more rewarding.
Even though the contest was a tremendous success (as you can tell by the number of comments we received), we have decided to change it up in a BIG WAY. We thought long and hard about it and we just don’t want to force people to have to leave a bunch of comments to win a contest.
We are still going to run a Comment Contest, but instead of the winners being the two people who leave the most comments, we are going to have a raffle at the end of each month and pull 2 names out of a hat. The prizes have not changed… we will be giving away one month of free 125×125 banners ad space to 2 winners in our sidebar in the designated area.
*RULES: The rules are very simple. On the last day of each month we will pull 2 names out of a hat and the winners will each win 1 FREE month of banner space in our designated area. We reserve the right to refuse anyone and any banners that we do not feel are appropriate for this site. To qualify to get your name in the drawing all you have to do is submit at least 5 comments throughout the entire month and we only count one comment per post. So you will need to comment at least once on 5 different posts to qualify. For a comment to count, it does not have to be long, but it does have to be useful to us and/or our readers. Just writing, “Great Post! Keep up the good work” will not count as a comment towards winning the contest. We need to know that you actually read the post. Mark and I will have the final say on what we feel is a comment.
If you have any questions, please let us know. Also, you do not need to limit your comments to 5 throughout the month. We just want to give more people an opportunity to win, so we are making it easier for everyone to qualify.

I do agree with you, you should do random pick instead of giving the prize to the first 2 Top commenters, it doesn’t help in getting more comments, but the quality of the comment can be controlled.

Seriously, Mark and I talked a lot about this, and having a contest where the top two commentators who leave the most comments win… can cause people to leave comments when they normally wouldn’t. We don’t want to force people to comment a lot just to win a prize. People still have to comment to win, but they only have to leave 5 total comments throughout the month which should be pretty easy for most people to do. This also gives many more people a shot at winning, which makes it more exciting for everyone… and that is very important to us as well.

Yeah, hopefully. It feels like I’m way back already though.
This is actually something that seems to be a bit more frequent when it comes to English blogs than in Sweden. People having top lists and linking to everyone commenting. For some reason comments are not as highly valued in Sweden. A bit weird, thinking about it.

There was no cost for entering. It was a Commenting Contest where the 2 people who left the most comments won. The rules have changed this month though!
