As everyone knows there are unlimited ways of making money online and new ones being created all the time. Today I want to talk to you about Private Label Rights Articles and Products. If you want to learn about it in much more detail I suggest you sign-up for our free e-Course here. It is a 2 week email course that teaches you all sorts of ways of making money online with Private Label Rights content. We use Aweber as our autoresponder service, so if you don’t like the course (which I know you will love) you can unsubscribe at any time, plus we will NEVER share your email address with anyone.
I am sure most of you know what Private Label Rights content is, but there are some people that don’t, so I think I better go over exactly what it is first…
For those of you that have signed up for our free PLR Secrets Course the description below might sound very familiar, as I am taking a lot of the information below right out of the first day of the course. It was easier than having to rethink everything over again, plus we only have a little over 30 subscribers so far… so most of you have not actually read it yet.
You probably keep seeing the term Private Label Rights popping up everywhere you look these days. You may have even seen them abbreviated as PLR products. If you’ve been wondering what the heck they are, but were afraid to ask, well now you’re going to finally learn.
In a nutshell, Private Label Rights products are products that you buy (sometimes when you’re lucky, they’re even given away) that you can use, basically any way you please. These types of products can take on a several forms nowadays, as you can see them as articles, e-books, software, graphics, audios and we are starting to see a lot of PLR videos as well.
PLR content is sold in several different forms; people sell articles and products individually, they sell them bundled together as packages and there are lots of membership sites that charge you a monthly fee for unlimited access to there usually ever-growing collection of PLR content. We have joined several of these type of membership sites over the years and still belong to a few which we love.
So listen up, because here’s the good part. Let’s say that you were to buy a bundle of PLR articles. You’d then be able to take those articles, and change them in anyway you want – by rewording them, adding to them, taking away from them; you name it, and making them your own. In fact, though many people don’t change them like this, I highly recommended that you do. Actually… the more you change them the better. If I am using PLR content for a project I really just like using it as a starting point. From there I delete whatever information is not needed, then I try and add a lot of my own content, and then I arrange it so it fits my project
What Are Your Rights?
Before I go on any further and confuse you, let’s talk about different types of rights on the products you can buy, and the rights you have with those products. We know that with Private Label Rights you can change them however you want, but that’s not always the case with everything you buy, and it’s important to know the difference to help keep you out of heaps of trouble for using someone else’s content illegally (as in getting sued!).
Okay, the one you’ll see very often are products with Resale Rights. These are very simply a product that you have the right to resale, however you do not have the right to claim them as your own, or change them in anyway whatsoever. You pretty much have to sell them for whatever they’re priced at by the creator of the product. You can make money from resale rights, but more often than not, these products are sold by everybody and their mother. You can definitely make money promoting these types of products, but there are better options in our opinion.
Master Resale Rights on the other hand are a little more lenient. With these, in many cases you have the right to give them away (but check with the TOS) – for instance to your list, or to new subscribers as a gift, etc. You also can pass the right for others to resell them, or give them away to their customers. This comes in handy for the purpose of viral marketing.
Here’s something else that you’ll like. With Master Resale Rights, you usually are given the sales copy, plus the graphics for the website, very often given in a handy little zip file for your convenience – therefore letting you bypass that step which is not easy for most.
All of your rights are given to you in what’s known as the Terms of Service (TOS). ALWAYS read these… just because you’re getting a certain bundle of rights, say Master Resale Rights, it doesn’t mean that all Master Resell Rights are the same. Some things change just as in any contract. The only one way for you to truly know, and keep yourself out of the deep stuff, is you must read the (TOS) and follow the rules.
Okay… now I am sure there are many of you that will scoff at the idea of using PLR content as they think the quality is poor and that they are way overused. Well like anything there is not so high quality content out there, but I am here to tell you that there is some really great PLR content out there as well… a lot of it.
To be honest, I would never use PLR content for any of our blogs (except for an occasional website flip or maybe some post ideas), but for creating some product giveaways and some other ways of generating money online… PLR is perfect. If I told you how much money I made over the past 5 years using PLR content you would be be amazed.
I better stop here for today as this post is getting way too long. Stop by tomorrow and I will tell you a little more on why you should think about using PLR content for “some” of your projects and where you can get a lot of really great PLR content for FREE.

Hi Doug. I went ahead and subscribed to the course because I am intrigued by the idea of private label rights. My main concern is that, since at this stage, my target audience is other bloggers, they might be hip to the idea, and accuse me of being lazy, or plagiarizing at worst. I always make sure to write with pride every time I sit down to create content, so I’ll have to make sure that this idea doesn’t conflict with my values. Otherwise, I look forward to learning from this course!

Thanks for signing up Trey for the course. Send me an email in a couple of weeks and let me know what you thought of it.
I absolutely understand where you are coming from with PLR and blogging. As I wrote in the post I would not use PLR content in my blog posts, but this site is not about blogging (even though many posts talk about the subject), but it is about Making Money Online. And there are many-many ways to make money online with PLR content.
As a blogger there is a limited amount of ways to actually make money with just a blog and to be really successful… bloggers need to expand their businesses to other projects and use their blog as the hub to their Internet empire! Of course this is not for everyone… as some people are just happy blogging

I used to visit a blog regularly, even though the English wasn’t perfect. I made allowance for that because I knew that English was not his mother tongue, yet I found his articles to be exceptional.
All of a sudden I noticed the language had changed dramatically and after a bit of googling I found the article had been reproduced several times on other sites. I questioned him and he told me that because of time constraints he was using PLR articles. At the time I had no idea what they were.
Anyway to cut a long story short, I no longer visit his blog because the content I was intrigued by is no longer there.

Sire… as I wrote in the post I would not use PLR content in my blog and I would not encourage anyone to… as blogging is very personal and the reason you read a blog is you build a relationship with the writer, and it is easy to tell (like you mentioned) when they are not the one writing it anymore.
But PLR content can come in very handy for other money making endeavors online.
Sire on Tue, 4th Aug 2009 3:58 pm
Yeah, but there is only so many hours in the day and way too many projects to make money for me to try them all out. Lucky for me I am gainfully employed but if that somehow changes I reckon I would give this a go, after all, every penny counts.

This is a fantastic idea and many would sign up for it.
I have a 2 pages on my blog whereby I give away free PLR articles (some are a bit old) and some eBooks. Some of the ebooks have Master Resale Rights and others are free.
I hope you don’t mind me giving links here, but I’m sure many will be able to use the downloads. I have a wide range to help many people out.
Doug Dillard on Tue, 4th Aug 2009 9:27 am

I have been working a lot with content over the last 10 years, especially when it comes to our Tanning salon images and what we use on print, etc.
This is an excellent article, I wouldn’t sweat it being long you include information in here that most people would never even consider.

What we have to understand here is blogging for some people is a career and not personal. See Doug your blog is personal and we would all be offended if we seen you doing this but for other bloggers that try to make a living from blogging well this is good for them.
PLR articles help build content and organic traffic which in return develops and create income for bloggers. I use to have 4 blogs I used PLR content with but everyone that read my blog was from Search Engine and not real people like us.
I would never do this at my blog now but I have 2 PLR articles from 2007
Jared | The Money Cult on Tue, 4th Aug 2009 8:50 pm
PLR is good for idea’s or to take and customize or build off the the data. You can pull bits and pieces together and create something plus you can look at a lot of crap for free on the site Doug mentioned. I look at it to get idea’s all the time.

That was an interesting read. I must admit, I am not very familiar with the plr scene. I guess I have never really had the need for that much content all at once.

Well I have purchased Big PLR packages few times on DP and I am using it to re-construct them and spread them on different article directories and article blogs for creating backlinks so that I can rank better on Google.
Lee Ka Hoong on Thu, 6th Aug 2009 11:15 am
I’ve actually heard a lot of this word PLR, but I was not understand what was that. I roughly got to know what is that after reading this post. My brother told me that there was a software (His friend bought it) that could help to rearrange your article and make it different with the original post, if you buy the PLR articles for your blog, I think you can make use of the software. I’ll try to ask my brother about the name of the software and share with you all.
Doug, the post is a little bit long, but I like it!
Regards,
Lee

Hi ~
Just found your site and signed up for the course. One question: I note that you say one should never use PLR content in their blog. I have read opinions to the contrary. Can you tell me WHY one should not utilize PLR content on their blog?
Thanks!
Cindy
Doug Dillard on Tue, 11th Aug 2009 11:21 am
Hi Cindy… thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, as well as signing up for our course.
As for your question regarding utilizing PLR content for a blog… the main issue is duplicate content and Google. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there that take the PLR content they find and just post it “as is” not changing any of the content and Google really does not like duplicate content and will probably punish you in their search rankings.
Now if you are smart and do not mind putting some effort in by making major changes to the content by changing it up and adding your own content as well, you could definitely use it for your blog.
