Making Money Online Dot Com’s “Getting Started” Series

We have been receiving a lot of emails here at Making Money Online lately asking us why we don’t explain the basics of how to get started online. For some reason when we started this site, we kinda started in the middle, instead of the beginning… as we assumed most of our visitors were somewhat experienced internet marketers and/or bloggers. From reading the emails, it appears many of our visitors are brand new to the Internet (who are known as newbies or noobs), so we are going to shift gears a little to let everyone catch up.

So for the next couple of weeks (at least), we are going to go over a lot of the basics when it comes to starting an online business. Topics like how to choose your niche, registering a domain name, getting your domain hosted, what type of website you should start with, some simple techniques to start making money online, etc… We are going to call this our “Getting Started” series!

Once the “Getting Started” series is completed… we will organize them on the site in some way so everyone will have easy access to them.

After that series is done we will start focusing on some more advanced techniques of making money online, as well as show you some other projects we are starting to work on to generate a nice monthly cash flow. Hopefully, not only will these projects help you with some ideas on how you can make some money… but we are hoping that in sharing what we are doing, you guys can help us in making these sites better and more profitable too.

Also… we eventually plan on making a video collection to go along with “Getting Started” series, but that probably won’t be happening until the end of this year or the beginning of next… so you will have to wait for those.

So stay tuned for Making Money Online Dot Com’s “Getting Started” series…

Good idea. This will be good for everyone to read though. These things are a good foundation for online success. Even though it’s better to build your foundation first, it’s never too late to go back and repair it.

Thanks Trey. It is a learning curve for us as well. It would have been smarter to cover the basics from the beginning, but like you said… It’s never to late to go back and repair it.

This is a good idea Doug, you’ll be getting more readers, says beginner blogger instead of all the experienced blogger. :) Perhaps you have some unique tips that we’ve missed out before. Awaiting for your Get Started series Doug. :D

This is a difficult decision when you are creating your blog from the beginning. Where should you start?

When I created my current blog (ducedo.com) I began in the beginning and now three months later it feels like I have covered the basics. Once in a while I try to throw in a bit more unique or more advanced post and I recommend you to do the same, so your more advanced readers will stick around.

Great idea to cover the basics though.

Thanks Stefan. I agree, it is hard to decide where to start, but it probably would have been smarter for us to have started in the beginning. Fortunately, we are now getting a lot more search engine traffic, so I am hoping this Getting Started series will be able to help a lot of the people finding us that are brand new to the Internet.

As for your site, I have always liked all the cool basic stuff you have covered. I have learned lots of great stuff from your posts!

    I thought so…

    Hello Doug,
Great post, my research has shown me that new bloggers are on the upswing. I guess part of the reason is the economy, the get rich quick guys seem to be doing great! Anyway your series will be a great addition to my new “alliance” blog, which you don’t know about yet! Let me explain:

I have created a blog which is actually an alliance of bloggers such as yours, ExJohn’s, Tycoon, Asswass and diTesco, which, for the test period, is using the Comluv Wordpress free blog platform. I thought if I demo’ed the idea to you guys it would be a much better way to explain what its all about.
I have spent the last few days adding content to it, using posts from your blog and the other bloggers in the alliance but before you can yell; DUP Content, here is the twist:

This site will have it’s own domain and the Boomerblogger(me) acts as a blog press agent for all the blogs in the group, our very own blog alliance public relations dept. Boomerblogger intros each post with his take on the makingmoneyonline post featured,in a sense, a testimonial then provides links to both the post itself and your site within the text. Best way to see how it works is go and look what I put up for you. http://boomerblogger.comluv.com The idea is that a third party like boomerblogger is pitching you, you are not pitching yourself. Dont you always feel better when someone refers you to someone?

The reason i am telling you here? Two reasons; one is that the blog could be viewed as a site that targets the noobs you spoke of who are new to blogging. Second, I have been reading your blog for over a month now and the people you associate with, trade comments, etc are the kinds of people we want in our alliance. Only di’Tesco knows about this so far as he has been helping me to critique it, but I will tell you he likes the idea, which is very encouraging because I like his blog.

I would like to hear from you and Mark once you get a chance to look at the site, tell me first what you think of idea and then how we can improve it. And I would love to hear from your readers too.

Dick… I just checked it out and it is very cool. I don’t have time to give it a complete critique, as I am in the middle of a few things, but will check it out more thoroughly later tonight and send you an email.
