This week we even have a new girl pulling out the winner’s name to add a little spice to these videos

Thanks again everyone for all your great comments… we really do appreciate them and you!
As you know we changed up the rules last month from the month before to give more people an opportunity to win. Well this worked out well, but there was quite a bit of a drop in commenting from the month before, which is okay, but we would like to see if we can get it back up a little this month.
So we have decided to make just one small adjustment to last month’s rules. To qualify to get your name put in the raffle it will still only take 5 comments for the entire month to get you an entry. But now you can earn additional enteries to increase your odds of winning. For every 5 comments you leave, you will get one entry into the raffle. So if you leave 5 comments you would get one entry… but if you leave 25 comments for the month you would receive 5 entries. Makes sense to everyone? Here are the official rules below…
*RULES: The rules are very simple. On the last day of each month we will pull 2 names out of a hat and the winners will each win 1 FREE month of banner space in our designated area. We reserve the right to refuse anyone and any banners that we do not feel are appropriate for this site. To qualify to get your name in the drawing all you have to do is submit at least 5 comments throughout the entire month. You can earn additional entries with every 5 comments that you leave. If you leave 10 comments you would receive 2 entries. If you left 15 comments you would receive 3 entries, and so on… So you will need to comment at least once on 5 different posts to qualify. For a comment to count, it does not have to be long, but it does have to be useful to us and/or our readers. Just writing, “Great Post! Keep up the good work” will not count as a comment towards winning the contest. We need to know that you actually read the post. Mark and I will have the final say on what we feel is a comment.
If you have any questions, please let us know. Again, congratulations to September’s two winners, Dan from TycoonBlogger.com and Benjamin from BenjaminCip.com.
Need Your Help Choosing a Logo

As most of you know the last couple of weeks we have been giving away custom logos (courtesy of LogoNerds.com) as prizes in our Making Money Online Subscriber Contest… and this coming Friday we will be giving away a custom character mascot as well.
If you saw the results from the first raffle… you know that Samjien from Home Affiliates won the first custom logo. She was definitely in need of a logo upgrade, as she does not actually have one at this time, so it worked out great for her.
Right after she won I put her in contact with Joseph over at LogoNerds so she could explain to him exactly what she wanted for a logo and here is what she she requested for her logo design.
Can I make my logo design similar to your “LogoNerds” logo design? I really like your design and I couldn’t think of anything better. I want the design to be the same as your LogoNerds design with the full name: Home Affiliate and then with a subtitle (Make Money Online, Health & Fitness, Urgent Job Hiring) beneath it. Also, I want the “o” in H(o)me affiliate to be replaced with a house icon that is kinda round instead of “o”. As with the colors to be used. It would be black and red. Can you also please add a shiny mirror shadow on my design just like the shadow of your company logo “LogoNerds”?
Here is their LogoNerds Logo Samjien likes
Below are the 6 logo concepts LogoNerds came up with for Samjien, which all fit her specifications.
I have my favorite design and I am sure Samjien has her favorite(s) as well. Now we would like to hear which logo you guys would choose. Please take a look at her website and then at the logo designs below and let us know in the comment section which logo you think would look best on her site. The more opinions the better… so please don’t be shy. Only good things can happen from helping a fellow blogger out

And don’t forget… we are still going to be giving away a custom character mascot (also courtesy of LogoNerds.com) this coming Friday (Oct. 2nd) so make sure you are entered… and if you win we can have our readers help you as well!
UPDATE: Here’s a revision that Samjien asked for. She liked certain aspects of #3 and #5.

How to Use HubPages to Make Money Online
by Doug Dillard
Filed under How to Make Money Online, Latest, Recommended
There are thousands of ways to make money online and HubPages is one of the best ways to get started with it, especially if you are good at writing and new to making money online. Joining HubPages is free and easy and you don’t have to invest anything. You can write about anything you want whenever you want so you won’t be feeling the pressure to keep a posting frequency. And best of all you could be making money while writing about the things you like.
How to Make Money from HubPages
There are some direct ways and some indirect ways that you can make money with HubPages. First let’s look at the direct ways you can make money online.
- Adsense – HubPages is a revenue sharing site, whenever you build a hub (a page about something you like) Adsense ads are automatically inserted to it. They use a service called YieldBuild which calculates the best possible places for the Adsense ads so you can be sure that your Adsense ads are optimized. In your settings you can set your Adsense publisher id and you will get 60% of the impressions from your hub. Now some will argue that instead of getting the 60% of page impressions why not write a blog post about it and get all the impressions to you. Problem is it will be pretty hard for you to rank for those terms in Google and get search engine traffic. HubPages is a trusted site by Google and it’s easy to get good ranking for your Hubs and because of the internal linking structure of HubPages you will get lots of traffic from other related hubs as well. All these benefits mean you have a better chance to make more money from HubPages.
- Kontera – You can also enable Kontera ads in your hubs so you have more chances of earning money. I personally don’t use Kontera in my hubs because I think they get in the way of good user experience but you might want to check them out and see the results in your hubs.
- Amazon Widget – You can also add Amazon widgets to your hubs. You can set your Amazon partner id in the affiliate setting and when a user buys something via your widget you get a commission.
Those are some of the direct ways you can make money with HubPages but there are more advantages to using HubPages which can indirectly help your earnings.
- Creating Hubs for Affiliate products – I have mentioned this before in the article as well, Google places a lot of trust in HubPages and your Hub about some affiliate product can easily outrank your blog post about that same affiliate product. Of course building back links is the best way to rank in Google but because of the internal linking structure and the trust Google places in Hub Pages you have a definite advantage while using Hub Pages.
- To Build Back links – Hub Pages is a great way to build back links to your blog or website. It’s relatively easy to get a good PR for your Hubs and as long as you maintain a Hub score of more than 75 you will get nofollow back links from your pages. My blog about Make Money Blogging is ranked well for some good key words and the links from my hubs played a major role in doing that.
I joined HubPages in the hope of getting some back links… but I got back links, money and a whole lot of knowledge as well. Since it’s free to join you’ve got nothing to lose and I assure you, you have a lot to gain. Check out my hub about “Want one-way back links? Try guest posts” to get an idea of a hub. I’m sure you can find the create my own button in there

What is Article Marketing and Why Should You Be Doing It?
by Doug Dillard
Filed under Affiliate, How to Make Money Online, Popular, Recommended, Tutorials
One of the key ingredients to making money online is to generate quality traffic to your website or blog… and there are many ways to achieve this. You have to work on getting traffic to your site both directly and indirectly, and you should work on building your reputation within your niche at the same time. One method that can help you accomplish these goals is article marketing. When used correctly, article marketing can be an extremely powerful method of traffic generation, and the best part is it is FREE. Well it’s free if you write the articles yourself.
Article marketing is the actual process of first writing an original article(s) and then submitting it to a variety of online directories, databases, and magazines, but most everyone I know usually just submit their articles to article directory sites like; EzineArticles, GoArticles, ArticleBase, etc….
Once your article has been accepted by a directory (or directories) it is then added to their large database of articles and it will then become accessible for anyone to copy and paste into their newsletters, blogs, magazines, etc…. The more directories you add your article to the better, as you are exposing your articles to potentially thousands and thousands of people with each directory you submit them to. At the bare minimum you want to submit each article to the top 3 to 5 directories for sure!
The person using your article must display the article EXACTLY how you wrote it, and they must also include your resource box at the end of the article which contains all the information about you and your site, but we will get more into that in a minute. The key to understand here is once you submit your article (and if it is well written on a fairly hot topic)… there is a good chance many people will take your article and share it with all their readers. If lots of people do the same thing… your article could easily be viewed by thousands and thousands of people in a very short period. Plus your article will stay in the database for many years, so there is a good chance it could be viewed for many years to come and hopefully continue making you money online.
Now getting back to the actually writing of the article… generally you write articles that are relevant to the nature of your website. You can’t directly promote your site, and you wouldn’t want to anyway because it would just turn people off and that is the last thing you want to do.
Instead, you want to provide valuable, worthwhile information that can help solve a problem, answer a question or teach them something new. In doing so you will be proving yourself as somewhat an expert in your field, and hopefully people will begin to trust and respect your opinion. In this way you can make a name for yourself within your niche, and your reputation will grow.
While that’s great (and important), what’s even better is that every time you write and submit an article you get to include some information about yourself with a link or two in the resource box at the bottom of the article. These links can lead back directly to your site, targeting whichever pages you choose. Additionally, since you are the one creating the link, you get to decide the exact anchor text you want to use. This provides an opportunity to build up a bunch of highly targeted, highly valuable one-way links leading back to your website or blog.
By doing this, you will be increasing your site’s value in the search engines like Google, and hopefully you will start getting ranked higher for your desired keywords. This is because incoming links leading to your site are one of the largest factors for determining your site’s Google PageRank. Not all links are created equally however, and you want to go after links that really provide a good amount of value. Links from the best article directories are extremely valuable because they are from high ranking sites, and they are one-way links that you didn’t have to pay or exchange for. Additionally, you can control the anchor text and destination page, so the links have the potential to be very powerful.
Therefore, with article marketing you are indirectly boosting your traffic and your online presence by raising your search engine ranking. Additionally, you will also directly see an increase to your website’s traffic when people read your articles and then click on your links to follow through to your page. The more valuable and original your articles are, the more people will click through to your site, and the more interested these prospects will already be about your ideas, products and services.
Article marketing brings along many different benefits. By providing high quality articles you can help build up your reputation, both within your community and within the search engines. You will see an increase to your site traffic and you will end up finding more prospects for your website and online business. If you aren’t article marketing yet, you are leaving a valuable opportunity sitting on the table.
So if you are serious about making money online… go and write an article right now and get the ball rolling.
Guest Blogging on Making Money Online
by Doug Dillard
Filed under Blogging, Latest Posts, Networking

When it comes to making money online there are a million different ways to do so, and more being created each day. Now I have been in the internet marketing business for a little over 10 years now and I have tried many different money making endeavors over those years. Some have worked really well, some just ok… while others have totally failed, so I do know a little bit about of what works and what doesn’t when it comes to making money online.
But one thing’s for sure… neither Mark nor I know everything there is to know about making money online, and no one else does either. So what Mark and I have decided to do since there are so many different ways of making money online out there is… we need to look for other people that would like to share their money making ideas with our viewers by allowing “Guest Bloggers”.
So if you have any making money online tips or related ideas you would like to share with our readers, we would love to post them on our site. Now we are not looking for people to just write a great big ad promoting their products or services. We are looking for tips, tricks, ideas, how-to tutorials, etc… on different ways to make money online. This would include (but not limited to) things like; affiliate marketing, network marketing, selling on Ebay, advertising, memberships sites, SEO, traffic generation, site design, online and offline marketing, networking, copywriting, blogging tips, etc…, the list could go on and on.
So why should you consider writing a guest post for MakingMoneyOnline.com? There are many reasons why you should, but here are a few:
Expose Your Name and Blog to a Whole New Audience – Guest Blogging is one of the best ways to get your name, as well as your blog exposed to a whole new potential group of viewers.
Generate More Traffic to Your Site – Writing a Guest Post for our site will definitely drive more traffic to your site as readers are always interested to learn more about the person writing the post. I know when I read posts from guest bloggers on other sites I almost always visit the author’s site to see what their site is about. I have become a loyal follower to several blogs that I have found through them guest blogging on other sites I frequent.
Build up Your Reputation – It is hard to build your reputation when you are first starting out blogging… and writing a quality guest post can only help quickly build your reputation as an expert in your field.
SEO Benefits – Guest blogging on this site or any other blog for that matter is a great way to help with your search engine optimization. You will be creating a relevant, high quality, keyword-rich one-way link back to your site which search engines love!
Free Advertising – This actually encompasses everything I mentioned above, as this is really a great way to advertise your business for FREE on our site. Yes, it will take a little work writing the post… but it won’t cost you a dime. Also, the click-through rate from a guest post link is far superior than purchasing a banner ad on this site or any other site. So if you don’t have a lot of money to advertise your business, this is a no brainer.

Traffic Monetization Program Beta Test Results
by Doug Dillard
Filed under How to Make Money Online
Here is a quick follow-up to my post a couple of weeks ago on a new Beta Traffic Monetization System we are testing out on one of our other blogs to see if it can help us make more money online.
To refresh your memory here is basically how the program works:
The program is basically an advertising revenue sharing program, similar to Adsense, but with a cool twist. With this you place keyword text links that you choose right on your website. You can choose high paying keywords if you like, but for my test I chose keywords I know my readers are actually searching for. When a visitor clicks on one of the text links, relevant ads are then displayed right on your website. The site owner then earns money each time a user clicks onto an advertiser’s link.
Here is how the text ads looks on our website MiraMesa.com.

So for the past 2 weeks the site has been averaging between 200 – 300 visitors per day, with about 75 – 80% of that traffic coming from search engines. Below is the earning’s chart which shows you exactly how much the site has earned with this traffic monetization system so far.

As you can see… not the greatest numbers ever, but not the worse numbers either. If the numbers stay like that, we will ending up earning a little over $20 for the month from those ads… which really isn’t too exciting.
We have decided to let the ads run through the rest of the month, and after that take them down, as we can earn more money selling banners ads to local merchants in that same spot.
Here is a list of the pros and cons we have come up with so far:
PROS:
- I REALLY like the ability to choose our own keywords, as we could choose all high paying keywords if we wanted too. We didn’t for this test, as the blog is an extremely focused niche and we didn’t have a lot of choices, but I could see where it could work very well on some other sites.
- I also like the ability to display the ads anywhere and anyhow we like. You could display several keywords like we did on that site, or you can just add a text link in a post and that would work as well. The display flexibility is very cool.
CONS:
- It is not available in all countries, and many of the countries where it is available… they seem to not have a large ad inventory, so not many ads (if any) display. So a website that gets a lot of worldwide traffic, I don’t think it would be too good a fit.
- Unlike Adsense where you can login to your account and see how your ads are doing every hour, and get a very detailed report… that is not the case with this program. The report information is very limited (as you can see above), plus the report is always 2 days behind. So if I login today (which is Thursday), I will only see my commissions through Tuesday. I really don’t like that!
- The earnings per click do not seem to be that great either. The problem I think is… this company is using another company (Hotkeys.com) for their backend system and both of them (at least) have to take a cut of the commissions before it gets to us. I believe with Adsense you are only sharing your commissions with Google (but I could be wrong).
So for the time being (for us), the Cons outweigh the Pros… but that might not always be the case. The company is very new and as they grow… they might be able to fix everything that I have listed in my Cons section. If that happens, I would absolutely recommend this company.
As you noticed I never mentioned the name of the company. That is because they are still in Beta Testing mode and it is not available for everyone to use yet.
If you would like to test out the system yourself, send me an email and I will put you in touch with the owner. The only requirement is your site has to average over 300 visitors per day to be considered.
Increase Affiliate Sales Conversions Dramatically
by Doug Dillard
This week’s making money online “Quick Tip” can help give you a much higher conversion rate when promoting affiliate products.
If you read my 2 previous posts on how to “Cloak” affiliate links (The Ultimate WP Affiliate Sales Tool and Simple Affiliate Cloaking Method) you know I am a big fan of cloaking affiliate links as you get a much higher conversion rate than leaving those big ugly URL’s that have your affiliate ID code displayed in them.
What works even better than those two methods at converting sales is registering a domain name for the sole purpose of promoting one particular affiliate product and forwarding the domain to your affiliate link.
Here is how it basically works. Let’s use one of my own domains for example. There is a product for making money online called Camera Dollars that has a really good conversion rate, and pays a whopping 75% commission. You earn $26.98 on each sale. They claim that 1 out of 10 people that visit their site purchases the course… which is incredible! The product is a course on how to make money with your camera by taking pictures and selling them online. You can imagine how popular this is nowadays with practically everyone owning a digital camera. Even though I have not tried selling any photos yet, I have purchased the course and it is really good. Someday I am sure I will try and sell some photos… but I am getting off track on what this post is actually about.
Since CameraDollars is a Clickbank product… it has a typical affiliate link (Hoplink) which takes visitors to the merchant site while tracking your affiliate id. Here is the hoplink for Camera Dollars:
http://YourClickBankNickName.camera.hop.clickbank.net.
So if I were promoting that particular product (which I am) I have a few options:
- I could just use my hoplink which would be http://dotspro.camera.hop.clickbank.net. It is not the prettiest link in the world, but it works.
- I could cloak the URL using one of the methods at the beginning of this post and it would end up looking something like: www.MakingMoneyOnline.com/cameradollars/ which is much nicer looking URL.
- But an even better way would be to register a domain and redirect it to my affiliate link (hoplink). So what I did was register the domain PhotoRiches.com and redirected the domain to my affiliate hoplink. So anytime someone goes to www.photoriches.com they are taken directly to my affiliate link, and if they make a purchase I make $26.98.
Now of the 3 methods above, the 3rd would obviously be the most expensive to implement, as you would have to register a new domain, as well pay for hosting for that domain. Now if you followed one of my earlier posts on “Never Pay for Premium Hosting Again” and implemented those strategies you would not worry about having to pay for hosting each time you register a new domain name. Also, as I mentioned before… this method definitely has a higher conversion rate than the other two and one sale would actually pay for the domain and hosting for year on a lot of sites.
Another cool thing about this method is it is much easier from a marketing standpoint online and off. Checkout this simple banner I just created to the right. A lot of affiliate banners that merchant’s offer for promotions have the merchants URL displayed right on the banner. Instead of clicking the banner, I know many people just type in the URL and they bypass the affiliate link resulting in no referral fee if they end up purchasing the product. With this banner… if a visitor clicks on it they will be taken to my affiliate link destination, as well as if they type in the URL. There is really no way to bypass my affiliate link as they do not know what the merchants URL actually is.
Imagine how great this will work for offline promotions as well. I could easily run inexpensive ads in newspapers, magazines, fliers, etc… that are extremely short and to the point. Here are just a couple examples of some simple ads:
————————————————————
Get Rich Taking Photos!
www.PhotoRiches.com
————————————————————
Got a Digital Camera? Learn How to
Make Money Taking Simple Photos!
www.PhotoRiches.com
————————————————————
I think you get the point. Those same ads could be run online in places like; Craigslist, Free Online Classifieds, etc…, as well as in your signature file on forums, in your emails, etc…. The more places you display it, the more chances you have of making money.
Now this post wasn’t designed to promote CameraDollars (even though it is a great product), it is to teach you another way to promote affiliate programs in general, and hopefully get much better conversions.
There are lots of big Internet Marketers that use this method and I notice most of them when registering a domain name usually choose something that is close to the merchants actual URL. An example would be if the merchant’s URL for their particular product is MagicalCashDonkey.com (which is a totally made up name)… you might want to register one of the following domains or something similar:
MagicalCashDonkey.net/org/biz/info/etc…
TheMagicalCashDonkey.com
GetMagicalCashDonkey.com
MagicalCashDonkeys.com
As you can see… they are all very close to what the original URL is, so when a potential customer uses one of those links, they probably wouldn’t even notice that the URL is slightly different than the one they are redirected to.
As for my domain PhotoRiches.com, it is actually quite a bit different than the product I am marketing, but the sales page is so good… it doesn’t really seem to make a difference to people.
So if there is an affiliate product (or several) out there that you really want to promote the heck out of… you might want to consider registering a domain specifically for promoting each product and redirect each domain to your affiliate link(s).
